Parliamentary Scrutiny Over IFI
Parliamentary Scrutiny Over International Financial Institutions
International Financial Institutions (IFIs) continue to use power to influence key decisions in implementing their policies in developing countries, often pushing state and central governments to overrule or sidestep elected representatives and at times even reduce their role to rubber-stamping agreements made between them and the government in power.
This booklet is meant to create awareness among the elected representatives in India and that they should be fully involved in the development and scrutiny of the policies of the International Financial Institutions that may adversely impact the poor in this country.
