IFIs in India's Northeast
Insidious Financial Intrusions in India’s Northeast is a repo-book that attempts to map the ‘sudden’ takeover of the eight states by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the World Bank (WB) and the Japanese Bank of International Cooperation (JBIC).
The report highlights how the Government of India (GoI) facilitated this intrusion and what the bigger plan to open borders for trade, facilitate private corporations to get into mining, agribusiness, dam building, carbon financing etc – in a region where there is rich biodiversity of people, culture and fauna and flora.
It also attempts to capture the violations by IFIs of their own norms of transparency, accountability and participation. It’s the first of its kind the book indicates that those who are concern about this mal-development can take up issues that concern them.
The book is a must for activist, NGOs, civil society organizations and for those who are concern about the earth as a whole.
