The Social Movements Calendar, conceptualised by Smitu Kothari as a document that would display a range of resistance in India across time, space, region, communities, issues and constituencies, is now in its second edition. The theme of the Social Movement Calendar 2010 – Defending the Commons – remains today central to collective protest, resistance and critique of the current paradigm of development, globalisation and capitalism.
