Over the years, through documentation, research and activism on questions of self-rule, development and social justice, we have constantly sought to align ourselves to the voices of the people and their struggles. From campaigns by the Narmada Bachao Andolan to Jharkhand, from Manipur to Kerala, our endeavour has always been to support the movements that we study. In this exercise we are not restricted to India alone but extend solidarity to various international movements across the world. Amnesty International UK has launched a new petition targeting the Vedanta mining company, as Vedanta prepares to celebrate its ‘successes’ in the mining sector in its upcoming AGM in July. Mahuva area in Bhavnagar district has among the most fertile lands in Gujarat. Unlike most of Gujarat and especially Saurashtra region farmers grow three crops, and exports mangoes, coconuts and other fruits. Moreover, the numerous onion dehydrating plants & cotton gins provide employment to at least 10 000 people.
